More follow-up from the D150 meeting (UPDATED)
PeoriaIllinoisan (a fellow Blog Peoria Project member) had this take:
Now the argument is about the benefits of common prep time? So to get him to change his stance, the citizens of Peoria not only have to find $600,000+ in the schools budget, they have to reconfigure the teacher’s schedules?
I could be totally wrong here, but it looks to me as if Mr. Hinton, with the school board in tow, has dug his trench and is awaiting battle.
I am convinced that when Hinton talks about “common prep time,” what he means is “more time for staff meetings where everyone can attend all at once,” which would make life a whole lot easier for those job it is to hold meetings.
I mean, is it really necessary that fourth-grade math lessons be planned in the same room at the same time another teacher is planning a spelling lesson for her first-graders?
If there’s an article on the Journal Star Website, I can’t find it.
Still no word from Diane.
UPDATE: C.J. has a new post, shock-full of audio clips.

Well, I had to get my knee jerk post up before CJ put up his well thought out and researched one. This Hinton character is sly as a fox. I can’t wait to hear how the meeting on Thursday goes.
