Media: HOI is THE TV station for D150 coverage
Once again, HOINews came through for parents at District 150 schools. Last night, I caught their 10 p.m. newscast, and there were two — count ‘em, TWO — reports related to the quality of education at Peoria’s public schools. One was a follow-up to the station’s original report on how some school’s aren’t meeting state-mandated physical education requirements. The other was a report on how a principal who lost a no-confidence vote was pegged as a new vice principal at the newly reconstituted Manual High School. Kudos to the folks at HOI News. It’s sometimes hard to get any coverage at all on other stations.

I DON’T KNOW OF THE LADY WHO IS THE NEW PRINCIPAL AT MANUAL, BUT HOW CAN SOMEONE WHO HAS A NO-CONFIDENCE VOTE FROM YOUR TEACHERS BECOME A NEWLY APPOINTED PRINCIPAL AT A HIGH SCHOOL ABOUT TWO MILES AWAY? AND THIS IS THE “PRINCIPAL” WHO PINK-SLIPPED SENIOR TEACHERS AND CAN’T FILL THEIR SPOTS? IT IS CALLED “RESTRUCTURING” OR “DESTRUCTION”?

RomanII: She’ll be the ass’t Principal. As for HOI comig through for parents? Yeah about 20 and Mimi McDonald who has been against everything in the district since I went to school their. Maybe they should talk to the teacher’s union? They are silent on this?? Maybe ask the two award winning teachers in the district what the think? I have.

It’s interesting that the press and blogs only cite one principal as having received a “no confidence” vote under Hinton’s administration. There are two more – although Hinton’s administration has tried to keep it very hush hush – Cathy Wiggers and Paul Monrad.
Anyone venture a guess why there is such disparate treatment here?
