Local: For some reason, the city wants your opinion on a new logo

From a press release:

The City of Peoria will hold a community forum on June 2, 2008, at 6:00 p.m., to give the community the opportunity to have input about a new logo for our City. The forum will be held at the Peoria Civic Center in Room 220.

Go read the whole release if you are so inclined.

Frankly, I’m wondering why they even bother asking citizens what they think about anything. I mean, 72 percent of the people who voted in the library bond advisory bond referendum said to go ahead, but now the city council won’t pull the trigger even though ever single condition has been met.

Opponents say voter turnout was low. I mean, do these people think 100 percent of the city’s population will show up at these forums?

Feh.

I’m with Bill. Why do they want citizen input? Aren’t they paying some company around $40,000 to design a new logo? Geesh!!

  2.   11Bravo Says:

If low voter turnout is the reason to ignore the referendum, then aren’t there 5 members of the city council whose elections were held the same day and could be just as easily written off too?

Now THAT is a good point.
