Local: Raw data available on Wacky Wednesday plan

July 10, 2008 in Local

By Billy Dennis

Visit Peoria Story. Elaine Hopkins has the school schedules AND the official opinion from the ISBE stating it’s perfectly OK to short Peoria’s children out of instructional time in exchange for what amounts to extra-long staff meetings.

Holy carp!! Y’all are actually arguing about 45 minutes per week!

How much of the time bloviating about this could’ve been used to instruct children in the fine arts?

  2. diane vespa Says:

Micah, it’s 90 minutes every week, not 45 minutes. And by the way, a member of our District Watch group that is opposing the shortened school day talked to the State Board today. It seems that Peoria has the dubious honor of being the ONLY school district in the state that uses a half day student improvement day (by banking hours) every week for teacher collaboration. Sorry, but I don’t think thats anything to be proud of.
