Politics: Joe Biden put Tommy Chong in prison
Gee, what a shock. More evidence that Joe Biden is the opposite of libertarian:
Earlier this week, in an interview with the Washington Post, Tommy Chong was asked what the average citizen can do to further the cause of decriminalization. “Check out the people you’re voting for,” Chong replied. “For instance, Joseph Biden comes off as a liberal Democrat, but he’s the one who authored the bill that put me in jail. He wrote the law against shipping drug paraphernalia through the mail – which could be anything from a pipe to a clip or cigarette papers.”
Barack Obama’s V.P. selection Sen. Joe Biden also sponsored the Rave Act, which targets music events where drug use is allegedly prevalent.
About medical marijuana, Biden said iin 2007: “We have not devoted nearly enough science or time to deal with the pain management and chronic pain management that exists. There’s got to be a better answer than marijuana. There’s got to be a better answer than that. There’s got to be a better way for a humane society to figure out how to deal with that problem.”
Biden coined the term “drug czar” and has championed the Office for National Drug Control Policy.

Do these people have something against persons who are opposed to illegal drugs? There is a limit to liberalism ane even Biden can see that!

Heh, a blog post centered around a Tommy Chong interview in the Washington Post. This is good stuff!!
Chong: Biden put me in jail.
Biden: Pot and stuff is still illegal. Go to jail, Tommy Chong.

I disagree with Biden on this one. Legalize, regulate and tax it. The economy could use a little boost right about now.

For the record, I agree that legalization is a good thing. If not legalization, then some extreme decriminalization (there is a difference).

Listen up Chong. and all you other losers who push for legalization of pot – pot use leads to crime and use of harder, more deadly drugs. The Asian countries have it right – use, sell or possess drugs and you are executed. I’m glad to hear that about Biden. Normally I wouldn’t think of voting for your average thumb-sucking liberal, but maybe I’ve got to look cmore closely at Senator Plaigarism.

Sargent you must be thinking of alcohol, the real gateway drug. The fact that Obama chose this drug warrior as a running mate shows us that he is totally backwards on this issue. 37 years of the War on Drugs has done nothing to reduce demand or supply, however it has made the United States the incarceration capital of the world (by a lot). One out of 3 black males are currently in the criminal justice system and if current trends continue 1 of 3 black males will actually spend time in prison at some point in their lives. Biden has tried (and failed) to address the sentencing disparity (Crack v. Cocaine) but he is missing the real point. Drugs are not a crime. Stealing is a crime. Instead of focusing resources on fighting drugs the federal government should let the states deal with crime as they were meant to do and get out of the drug war completely. The power government has demanded in this War is obsene. What is accomplished when the DEA strip searches 147 passengers of a plane in Saipan – even if they did find drugs (they didn’t)? 147 people have their human rights violated by drug warriors and everyone who wants to can still get high. Another day in Wonderland.
