Hope she leaves her folder of fliers from the Illinois Democratic Party at home. At the Moss-Bradley candidates forum she tried to blame Jehan for all the tripe put out by the IL Dems. It was ugly and did not leave a good impression. Joan insulted a young woman asking her a question. If she can’t take the heat from post cards put out by IL Dems how does she propose to survive the General Assembly? I noticed that Jehan kept her cool. Springfield is a viper pit. I think my first intro to the candidates at the forum showed me who would be able to survive it.

Tulip – I was there too. One of Gordon’s supporters during the public forum had the audacity to ask her if she was paying money to a journalist from the PJStar to write articles favorable to the Krupa Campaign. Did you think that was appropriate? Should Joan not defend herself against the smut being said about her from the Gordon campaign? Have you seen the tabloid trash that the Gordon campaign is mailing out? If you have, and you think it is acceptable, that is sad. Tell your friends they need a little more practice with Photoshop.
It is also misleading for you to suggest that the mailings are the fault of the Illinois Dems. Gordon herself told me she had full knowlege of what was going out. This is a rare instance where she should be believed.
You realize that she has lied about a college degree don’t you? She says she has learned from her multiple mistakes ( theft conviction, lying about a degree, not paying prking tix) and moving on. I’m thinking that is just one more fabrication.
October 6th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
This is one area we agree on. This is exactly why we should elect JOAN KRUPA as state reprentative. She has the integrity, the honesty, and the dignity to put Springfield back on track to serve the people of the 92nd District!
October 6th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Please – Is the Gordon campaign really sending this out? The return address is for the IL Democratic Party. Is Krupa going to take responsibility for everything put out by the Rep party or by other organizations? Gordon was a class shy of the degree and had gone through the ceremony. She could have worded this differently, and probably should have. However, I’m not sure ‘you realize that she has lied about a college degree don’t you?” is entirely appropriate. Gordon is from a working-class family and knows the struggles we face. At the forum, she seemed very sincere. Very caring. Krupa seemed petty, elite.

If it’s regarding her campaign, I feel safe in saying yes she will.
October 6th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Tulip, do you know Joan or are you just seeing a lady defend her self. I have worked along side Joan Krupa . Those ads were very curel. Joan has a right to defend her self . Now if Ms. Gordon was defending her name and ads , would you feel the same way? Joan Krupa has done so very much for our community and beyond . We all have times we defend our selves . I’m sure you have been there your self… Joan is a very nice lady. Who should be treated with repect …

“Please – Is the Gordon campaign really sending this out?”
Tulip, with all due respect, those mailers are sent out by the IL Dem party which is in turn run by the speaker and his campaign organization. Gordon sees these as they go out. She has a right to say no. It works the same way on the other side. Krupa’s campaign is a bit different since it is run (someone correct me please if I am wrong here) by Steve Schearer and not the Republican house leadership. Make no mistake, if the Republican leadership were actually running Krupa’s campaign you would see the same thing, look at other races around the state. BOTH sides are guilty here. Bottom line is both Krupa and Gordon should be respected for their willingness to put themselves out there to run for the seat. Unfortunately, the way the system works is that people higher up the food chain with no interest other than power swoop in and run these races in a way that is unappealing to most voters in this community. Our local candidates become mere puppets for the leadership.
October 7th, 2008 at 12:01 am
Tulip my dear, Gordon did the photo shoots for those mailers. She admitted at a forum that she approved them.
Her campaign manager came from Speaker Madigan’s operation and Speaker Madigan’s operatio pays his salary. Madigan is also chairman of the IL Democratic Party. Gordon gets all her campaign funds from him and union money he directs. And he has also paid for her mailings. There is no buffer. It is pathetic camoflauge to think her campaign is not coordinated. She has raised almost no money in this area. And she will be just as much a puppet if she wins.
For change we can believe in, take some responsibility and quit lying.
Gordon has lied, her mailers are full of lies. And this is the type of bad character we don’t need more of in Springfield.
Hey it’s also why there are several big name Democrats on that list above helping Krupa.

The negatives about Jehan are not my reason for supporting Joan. My reasons are based on my personal knowledge of the kind of person Joan is and the belief that she is truly the most qualified to represent us in Springfield. I certainly do not have a political reason for voting for Joan since probably all but two of my votes will go to Democratic candidates this year. I think Joan has been taken aback by the the ads against her that truly do misrespresent her to the extreme. Joan isn’t a seasoned (or hardened) politician–and that’s another good reason for voting for her. And in her personal life, I know that she doesn’t behave as though she belongs to the “rich elite,” etc. I have to add that I am not comfortable attacking Jehan either. I don’t know Jehan but I did work with her mother Annie at Urban League–and have the highest respect for her. I don’t know what has motivated Jehan to allow some of the ads misrepresenting Joan–I hope she will learn from this experience and that she will continue seeking ways to serve. She may well get my vote some other time for some other office, etc., but this time I earnestly believe that Joan is the better prepared for Springfield. Please come to meet Joan Wednesday night.

Back and forth this goes. Really, NO Republican of any kind should be elected to any office this November. After 8 years of one dummy and almost 11 years of complete Republican rule, I think people have had enough. Gordon, or Mickey Mouse, as long as they are Democratic, Independent, Green Party or whatever, vote, but not Republican.

Your head is in your butt on this one. Things in DC are a mess and Republicans can be fairly blamed even though Democrats control both the House and Senate. You can hate Bush all you want, fine, but that has NOTHING to do with the huge mess in Illinois state government.
To say no one should vote for any Republicans is assinine considering that for the past 6 years Demcrats have controlled EVERY office in Illiinois state government in Sprinfield and that dysfunction and mess are every bit as bad as the federal government is in DC.
Democrats have the Governor, Lt. Gov, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller, Treasurer, a super-majority in the state Senate and a majority in the state House…every single Constitutional office and total control of the state Legislature.
Medicaid people can’t find a provider to see them because the state doesn’t pay its bills. They also are shutting down state parks. Illinois has the highest debt in the nation. Much higher unemployment than in Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Iowa–every single state that borders Illiinois. I could go on and on. And none of this has anything to do with Bush.
Open your mind and wipe the crap out of your eyes and maybe you will be able to see more clearly.
October 7th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Bush has a 22% approval rating. Despite everything, that 22% still thinks this country is moving in the right direction under his leadership. And… we’re going to bring up yellow dog Democrats?
Really?
October 7th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
*cough* George Ryan *cough*cough*
October 7th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Pots, Most Repubs I know hate George Ryan… and he and George Bush have nothing to do with the candidacy of Joan Krupa. If you really think you have an open mind about this, go meet her on Wednesday, and report back
October 7th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
Most Dems I know hate Rod Blagojevich, but that apparently doesn’t mean anything. Anyway, if Bill Ayers is a legitimate topic in the presidential race, you can bet your ass George Ryan is fair game in this one. We stopped at negative associations after McCain=Bush/Obama=Carter. It’s the GOP who wants to continue the politics of association. It flies with you right-wingers on that level, so why is Ryan off limits?
Re: the meeting — I work all day Wednesday then have a midterm Wednesday evening in a class which lasts until 9:45pm, otherwise I would.
October 7th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
Geez. I think not antrionics (if that is your real name). I never said anything about hating Bush just expressed an opinion is all. You choose to repeat the Fox News mantra word for word. Example: “Democrats control both the House and Senate” Of course but not for most of the last 12 years. This is the fault of both party’s to be sure. Sorry you are so hateful but it is hard to wipe crap out of my eyes (your words) when you are spewing much of it. Go back to the other 22% that still believe in the tooth fairy.
By the way, Palin is a governor so is hot Rod. Both suck.

Where the hell is Salty Sam when you need him?
October 7th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
My concerns with Gordon are such,
I have asked three questions at three forums/meetings. Not one of my questions has been answered. What is more frustrating is that the people who support her at these events don’t seem to notice that the questions are not being answered. She speaks well, very eloquant. She appears to be a nice woman in our conversations, but I expect my questions to be answered, especially when they are stumping points for the campaign. Additonally at the League of Woman Voter’s forum, a significant question regarding funding of education went unanswered as did the follow up question from the WCBU reporter covering the event. I will go to other events, but this seems to be a pattern.
Tulip, regarding the literature “send by the dems”, This is Madigans funding. Only a fool would believe that Madigan would not control her vote. This is frightening given the childish actions by the House, Senate, and the beloved “Blago” Additionally the literature is not accurate and that needs to be addressed. I was at the M/B forum, if you are who I believe you to be, you darn well know that the question I asked was not answered, It was avoided.
While I do volunteer work for Joan’s campaign, which is not a secret, I also have asked her tough questions as well, in public meetings and would have that night if I had been called up.
Ryan is not off limits. I am less concerned about party as I am about people. I am strongly supporting Allen Mayer, a democrat, and have supported other dems who are excellent candidates. We have to look at what is best for our community when chosing candidates and blind party acceptance had clearly lead to the issues in Springfield.
RE: Joan, she has every right and responsiblity to address the misinformation/outright falsehoods being sent out by the other candidate/party. She has proven herself in the fields of health care with a comprehensive plan combining public and private dollars to provide health care to not only the most needy in our community, but also quality care for the ensured and self-pay. This is a level playing field, equal rights if you wish to use these terms.
She has and education back ground both with children and with county inmates. She has United Way experience across a number of social services. She has international experiences through living in China for 8 years. Additonally she and her husband started off with very little. They have been fiscally responsible, something extremely important to bring to Springfield, given the deficit.
She did not attack the young woman at the M/B event, she stated that if the young woman did not wish to believe the truth then she should vote for her opponent. A bold statement, which took a stand. Interestingly her opponet appeared to be perplexed about the flyers. Again, who is in charge of the campaign. the candidate or Madigan.
Much to digest. Go to forums and ask questions, facts vs. speculation are needed to chose wisely.
October 7th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
the beloved “Blagoâ€
Who loves him?
I voted Green Party and would do so again.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:00 am
A friend of mine–who usually votes Democratic –was a bit upset to see a Gordan sign in her front yard. She seems to think that someone got hold of some kind of list of voters who usually vote Democratic and put signs in yards. Of course, this could have been a mistake. Has anyone else heard of similar incidents?
October 8th, 2008 at 12:22 am
Y es a good friend of mine was upset because someone put a Gordon’s sign in her yard , beacause she is a democrat. She is voting Krupa. Paul , as always you nailed it. I also am supporting Joan Krupa. I only wish who bash , would come meet her …. They would like her and know that she cares about people and our concerns… Vote Krupa , you won’t be sorry
October 8th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
Thanks to people like Reno, Springfield isn’t the only viper pit.
Anyway, why is it so common for ‘Crats to pad their resumes?
October 8th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Here’s my position: Jehan knocked on my door and spoke to me personally. I realized she and I share common backgrounds and values. Joan, as far as I know, has not dirtied her shoes in my neighborhood. She did, however, get some friends to pressure neighbors to line our street with red signs.
At the Moss-Bradley forum, Krupa whined about the cards sent out by the IL Democratic Party. She did not lay out many positions. Gordon did. This was my first opportunity to understand what both candidates stood for. Joan blew it.
I have to vote for the person who shares my values. Gordon, on my porch and at the forum, spoke to issues that I care about. Joan did not.
Krupa may have worked for an institution that provided income to low-income patients, and that is admirable, but I’m sure her board provided her a nice salary for this work. I don’t think this was volunteerism. I know that she changed the structure of the organization so that doctors who had previously proudly volunteered their services to patients can no longer do so.
October 8th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
I meant to say provided “health care to low-income patients.”
Sorry.
October 8th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Here we go again, Joan Krupa has been out walking all over and meeting people. As far as Heartland , it seems to me Tulip you have no knowleage of this clinic. Its for all walks of life , not just low income people. She has crossed party lines to get the best health care in our community and beyond. Heartland is Tri County… And if you two share the same values , i thank God your not running , for office . I will support Joan, not just because of Heartland , we[ her and ] share the same values , the love of our community . As i have said all week , she is a class act.
October 9th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Tulip. Get real. You would vote for Jehan Gordon if she was an ax murderer. No one buys your feigned “I’m just trying to decide who to vote for…”
October 9th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
“Thanks to people like Reno, Springfield isn’t the only viper pit.”
Christ, what did I do to anybody? Drink another one, Vonster.

“feigned.” I don’t feign. Put a sock in it.
October 10th, 2008 at 7:11 am
A lot of smack for nothing because that shoplifting, big ol’ bison head named Jehan ain’t gonna win crap come November 4.

“Thanks to people like Reno, Springfield isn’t the only viper pit.”
Vonster, I resent that! Okay, Loverboy may not have been the most highbrow band, and their hairspray probably contributed to the thinning of the ozone layer. But doggone it, Mike Reno looked great in those red leather pants! I suggest you watch the “Working For The Weekend” video again — I guarantee you won’t see any vipers.
