Politics: Callahan wants Schock to release tax info

(Press release)

For the third time in five days, Colleen Callahan has called upon Aaron Schock to release his personal tax records from 2006 and 2007.

Schock, the Republican candidate for the 18th Congressional seat, steadfastly refuses to release his tax records despite calls to do so from both Green Party candidate Sheldon Schafer and Democrat Callahan.

“Why must the voters of the 18th District continue to wonder about my opponent’s financial dealings?” Callahan said Tuesday. “In these times of financial crisis, I believe the importance of running an open and transparent campaign is more important than ever before. It’s time for Aaron to step up and join us in making his tax records public.”

On Friday, Schafer called on both Callahan and Schock to follow his lead and release their personal tax records from 2006 and 2007 along with campaign finance disclosures. Callahan did so on Friday, placing links to all pertinent documents on her campaign Web site, www.colleencallahanforcongress.com under the About Colleen tab.

But Schock, again speaking through his campaign manager, refused.

It’s time we hear from Aaron.
