Local: Victorian Christmas Celebration offered by Junior League

Join the Junior League of Peoria for a Victorian Christmas Celebration
The Junior League of Peoria is having a Victorian Christmas Celebration at the historic Ballance-Herschel House. The Celebration will be held December 4th – 7th and will feature home tours, Christmas teas, Cookies with Santa and a Christmas marketplace.
Home tours will run from 5:00 to 9:00pm. Tickets are $5 in advance or $10 at the door.
Creating Christmas Memories Tea will be held Saturday, December 6. Tea times are 11AM and 2PM. Guests will learn how to prepare for the Christmas holidays in a Victorian era home. Topics will include Christmas cards, gifts, Santa Claus, candy treats, decorating the tree, sleigh rides, Christmas dinner, dinner etiquette, and what to wear to dinner. Tickets are $15.
On Sunday, December 7th, the children’s event Cookies with Santa will be held from 1-3PM. Children of all ages can spend time with Santa, enjoy cookies and cocoa, make some Christmas crafts and have their pictures taken with Santa. Tickets are $10.
A Christmas Marketplace will be held during all of the Victorian Christmas Celebration. The Marketplace will feature unique gifts from local artisans and merchants, including:

* Holiday Acrylic Canvases
* Krazi Wraps
* Morgan E. Art
* Dogtown Artworks.
Local florists and designers will also showcase their unique talents and designs in 5 memorable spaces in the Balance-Herschel House. The florists and designers include:

* Prospect Florist
* Events by Bloom
* David Rogers
* Michael A Cruse
* Jeffrey Alan’s.
“We are always excited to show off our beautiful home, but when dressed up for Christmas the house is an amazing site to see†said Elizabeth Allen, co-chair of the Balance-Herschel House for the Junior League. “All proceeds go back into our community by benefiting the projects and programs of the Junior League.â€

The Junior League of Peoria is an organization of over 400 active and sustaining members. Since 1935, the JLP has been committed to promoting voluntarism and improving our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The Peoria Race for the Cure, Family House, the Riverfront Playground, Julep’s Closet, Christmas in April and Keepsacks for Kids are just a few of the past projects that we have launched in the Peoria area. Our current major project is The Peoria Playhouse, an interactive children’s museum to be located in Glen Oak Park.
