Local: D-150 on another house buying binge?
That’s the rumor Peoria Anti-Pundit says.
Remember the last time? The financial savants at District 150 spent close to $1 million dollars buying homes on prospect Road to tear down and build the Glen Oak School replacement inside Glen Oak Park, only they did it prior to ANY public vote by the School Board and before the Peoria Park Board approved the site.
And these are the deep thinkers who tell us they absolutely must tear down BOTH Woodruff High School and Peoria High School and build a new school on vacant land right next to Central.

I am a K-12 “product” of District 150. For years I had a lot of respect for the people who ran it. Perhaps it’s nothing more than growing older and watching what is going on, but what’s going on seems devoid of sense. Obviously, the baby boom generation’s need for education is long gone, and the school population is declining; but why replace any buildings? One of the major cities, I don’t remember which one, released a report stating that they were money ahead by refurbishing old school buildings, instead of buying houses and building new ones. If it’s the GAR hall or our city hall, why, it’s a fine piece of history and should be saved! But if it’s a school like Glen Oak, it’s a tumble-down eyesore that should be razed ASAP?! I am willing to pay more for education, if the money goes for teachers and other necessities (no, I’m not a teacher). But if it’s going for new buildings, unqualified superintendents, administrators, or kickbacks to architects and construction companies, it’s just plain foolishness.
