Calvin & Hobbes is the best comic strip ever.

On one hand, I’m glad that Bill Watterson pulled the plug while the strip was still of high quality.
On the other, hand even a mediocre Calvin and Hobbes is better than the best of Garfield.

Even a mediocre Blondie is better than the best of Garfield.

You’ll get no arguments here. Calvin and Hobbes is to comic strips as Barry Sanders is to football. Both did what they do better than anyone else, and managed to leave us all wanting more, rather than bemoaning their late-stage decline. Both Barry and Watterson are also reclusive hermits.
