Good, I hope they asked him why he believes women do not deserve equal pay for equal work.

That issue was asked and answered on this site a week or two back. Wish I had the time to search it out but if you go back there was a post not too long ago addressing that very issue. There was much more to that bill than met the eye.

Update: There has been a time change..
It will air at 7:30 am in both time zones. So no change for eastern time, but central time will also air at 7:30 am, not 6:30 am.

Dear Middle Aged,
Hear is a link to an earlier discussion about the Emily Ledbetter Act. Diane likes to say he answered it. I find his explanation to be disingenuous at best.

I am a Republican/Independent voter who does not have much respect for Mr. Schock; however, I admire his enthusiam and wish him the best for his country. Two things I will point out (there’s another) as to why I have not much respect for him: his burrowing his way on Air force One to come to Peoria with our President as if he was wanted, and secondly his getting to the House chambers the other night two hours early to a place where he could be seen on national tv shaking the hands of the President he had thumbed his nose at a week earlier. I wish you cookies would get a little smarter.

RomanII, I agree, I did not think he should have been allowed aboard Air Force One. I doubt George Bush or any other President would be so generous to a freshman Congressman, especially one from the opposing party.

I’m very happy for not just Aaron, but all of us in Peoria . No matter how you feel about him , he has put a very goodfeeling about Peoria . Myself, i think he’s awesome and i’m very glad i voted for him. He has done a lot within our community . I as , a Neighborhood leader who has worked with him , he will some day be a very important leader. You go Aaron.

Air Force One is not an open boarding operation. “Burrowing” his way on? Only people who are invited get on. Normal protocol is for US Senator and the Representative from the district that the President is flying to get invited. Durbin flew with Bush.
Schock exhibited the bi-partsanship people are demanding….respect for those you disagree with. No reason why he and Obama need to be antagonists because they disagree on many but not all issues.
If Obama feels differently and that only people who support his policies should fly on Air Force One then all the post-partisan, bi-partisan, “higher lever of political discourse” rhetoric in the campaign was disingenuous. So far, it seems to have been real. But a representative does not “owe” a President a vote in Congress just for a ride on Air Force One. Nor should a representive who voted his conscience in opposition to the President’s position on a recent bill be shy about welcoming the President to the House Chamber. It’s called common courtesy.
As Minority Leader, Bob Michel had a solid conservative voting record and gave speeches lambasting the Democratic majority when they were unfair to the minority and on the substance of the bills. Yet, he was always respectful to those same Democrats. He led the way in showing to disagree does not have to be personal nor bitter.
