Politics: Schock isn’t happy with AIG bonuses

From a press release:

Schock Calls for Exit Strategy on Government Bailouts in the Wake of Outrageous AIG Executive Bonuses

Washington, D.C. – In the wake of the news AIG has awarded executive bonuses totaling $165 million, Congressman Aaron Schock (R-IL) issued the following statement:

“The recent revelations that AIG is using taxpayer dollars to award $165 million in executive bonuses are simply outrageous. Taxpayers are not receiving an adequate accounting from the Treasury Department or from those companies receiving taxpayer funds. My amendment to H.R. 384, the TARP Reform and Accountability Act, would have established a website to track these funds. Unfortunately, the Senate has thus far failed to consider this legislation. This news regarding AIG executives receiving egregious bonuses, while leaving taxpayers to continue bailing out these firms, is the clearest example of why an exit strategy from this government involvement in private business is essential. I believe the Administration and Congress should recover these bonuses by any means and present taxpayers with an exit plan as soon as possible.”

Yeah the ground rules for this “bailout” cash were established by “W” and Repubs.

    You go Aaron.

And what did our government expect? The same people who destroyed their business to the tune of $170 million to all of a sudden become depression-era thrifty and miserly? They are laughing all the way back from the liquor store with their cases of Cristal to celebrate sticking it to the taxpayers. They should all be standing in the unemployment line if not in prison.

Isn’t Aaron a “repub”? but more power to him, Obama and anyone else who blocks these bonuses. Who gets a bonus for losing millions upon millions of dollars anyway? Who ever set that up was genius and needs to talk to my boss ;)

If you recall, one of the reasons Schock voted “No” on this bill was because it was not provided to the legislators soon enough for their thorough review prior to voting. It is any surprise now that the bill contained “surprises”?
