We have proof: Conservatives are stupider than normal people

See. Told ya so:

Children with low intelligence are more likely to grow up to be social conservatives and racists, researchers found in a study published out of the U.K.

The study, which appeared in the journal Psychological Science and was written up by LifeScience, built upon previous research linking low education with prejudice, using data from two studies testing IQ and then political beliefs.

“As suspected, low intelligence in childhood corresponded with racism in adulthood. But the factor that explained the relationship between these two variables was political: When researchers included social conservatism in the analysis, those ideologies accounted for much of the link between brains and bias,” LifeScience wrote.

Folks, I don’t believe a word of this. Conservatives are not stupider than normal people. Just heartless and uncaring.

Heh heh heh.

Oh, and they illustrated this article with this photograph:

y’know, if you put a set of 70′s style glasses on him, he’d look like……a slimmer you.

And then there’s this from the LiveScience article:

“Hodson and Busseri’s explanation of their findings is … correlational. That means the researchers didn’t conclusively prove that the low intelligence caused the later prejudice. To do that, you’d have to somehow randomly assign otherwise identical people to be smart or dumb, liberal or conservative. Those sorts of studies obviously aren’t possible.”

    And this:

“For example … a study of left-wing liberals with stereotypically naïve views like ‘every kid is a genius in his or her own way,’ might find that people who hold these attitudes are also less bright. In other words, it might not be a particular ideology that is linked to stupidity, but extremist views in general.”

In other words, it’s the old “cum hoc, ergo propter hoc” fallacy. Next they’ll be coming out with a study that shows eating ice cream causes drowning because the rate of drowning deaths correlates with ice cream sales.
