Rush Limbaugh may pick up a new advertiser: The Westboro Baptist Church

Hey, I do not know if this is true or not. But it stands to reason that Limbaugh — who claims to LOOOOOOOOVE the free expression of ultra conservative ideas — would have no problem with the right-wing hate group advertising on his show. Bring ‘em on, I say!

There are not many companies, as of late, willing to advertise on Rush Limbaugh’s syndicated radio show. Limbaugh’s controversial comments on Sandra Fluke’s personal life and testimony have cost him over 140 sponsors and forced Premiere Radio Networks to suspend national ads for at least two weeks.

However, it is not all doom and gloom for Limbaugh’s show. Rumors persist inside Clear Channel, which owns Premiere Networks, that indicate the company is considering an offer of sponsorship from Westboro Baptist Church. The church made headlines locally in Reno for threatening to picket Brianna Denison’s funeral. What kind of advertisements Westboro Baptist Church is offering for broadcast is unclear.

If the offer is accepted it would put LifeLock and Lear Financial, the only major businesses to stand with Rush Limbaugh, in strange company. LifeLock provides identity security services, while Lear Financial is known for encouraging people to invest in gold, silver, and platinum.

    Rush Limbaugh announced on his show today that he is getting three new (probably national) sponsors in the next two weeks. And there are old ones that will be returning.

    And Westboro Baptist Church (whose leader, the Rev. Fred Phelps, supported Democrat Al Gore’s presidential campaign in 2000) isn’t going to be advertising on Rush’s radio show.

    Seriously, you call yourself a “former reporter and editor” and was willing to follow a blind rumor originating on a Reno, NV gaming site? Wouldn’t logic dictate a rumor of this type originate on a website related to radio make more sense? How many contacts inside Clear Channel could a bunch of casino geeks actually have, opposed to sites that cover that beat every day?

    OF COURSE the Church of Satanic Hate would sponsor Rush Limbaugh!
