I’ve been without home Internet for a while now, so I’ve been rereading Star Trek books, including James Blish’s works. And I have to agree with this most of this article. Captain Picard? His leadership tricks seems to be to surround yourself with Klingons, androids, telepathic aliens and guys who wear visors.

#6 Never accept no win scenarios. Otherwise he wouldn’t be famous for being the ONLY cadet to defeat the infamous Kobayashi Maru training simulation.
# 7 When on the landing party, to insure survival surround yourself with anonymous Red shirts for cannon fodder.
# 8 Keep your body in shape. You never know when your shirt will get ripped in a fight while a hot green skinned lady is watching.
