This survey is COMPLETELY scientific:
March 24, 2012. THE iLLINOIS OBSERVER today released its second Illinois blog survey since 2009 in which it ranks 66 independent or “mom and pop” Illinois-based blogs that cover Illinois politics and local government news, and we found once again that the Chicagoist headed up the top 10 list.
Independent or “mom and pop” blogs are blogs that are not sponsored by major media companies and their Web sites, such as the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Daily Herald, Crain’s, NBC-5 Chicago, etc.
The THE iLLINOIS OBSERVER March 23-24, 2012 survey, which utilized Alexa’s Web site ranking tool, excluded the blogs housed on the Chicago Tribune‘s Web site Chicago Now because no separate rankings were available for the many former, independently sited blogs.
And down the list is:

This blog is ECLECTIC. Mostly, I write about politics and media. Sometimes, I post a funny cartoon. Sometimes I post pictures of pretty girls. I am baffled as to why people who visit this blog regularly complain about this.

According to Wikipedia, Alexa is not “completely scientific” and its ranking is flawed. Most web tech people I know go by ComScore and other ranking systems.

Hence the page is only ranked between users who have these sidebars installed and may be biased if specific audience is reluctant to do this (Windows Defender has classified the sidebar as malware while it assigns it to Trojans).
Also, the rank is based on three month data and takes a long time to reflect changes in content that may happen after the domain has been sold. Finally, low ranks cannot be accurate not just because of the lack of data but also because of statistic laws related to the long tail distribution.
There is some controversy over how representative Alexa’s user base is of typical Internet behavior, especially for less trafficked sites.
In 2007 Michael Arrington provided a few examples of relative Alexa ranking known to contradict data from comScore, including ranking YouTube ahead of Google.
