Friends don’t let friends quote Fox news

Never, ever, ever lift a quote from Fox News. Ever:

The Washington Post has corrected its article that included an apparently fabricated quote by President Obama.

The initial version of the article quoted Obama as saying, “unlike some people, I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth.” TPM reported earlier today that the first three words were not spoken by Obama – they were apparently concocted by Steve Doocy of Fox News, who portrayed the remark as a jab against Mitt Romney. Those three words have been removed from the Post article.

The updated Post article includes this note at the top: “An earlier version of this post incorrectly quoted President Obama’s reference to not being born with a silver spoon in his mouth. This version has been corrected.”

Whenever a current or former mainstream media member chides citizen journalists for being ideologically driven amateurs who write without adult supervision, I am reminded of Fox News.

If the Washington Post based a quote on something a morning news host said, then friends don’t let friends read the Washington Post. :(

  2. BrianG says:

Where does Steve Doocy gets his news anyway, Mr. Jordan? Check this out especially after 2:00. http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/tue-february-28-2012/i-can-t-believe-it-got-better-

Only someone blinded by partisanship couldn’t see that Fox News is just the propaganda arm of the Republican party. It is headed by Roger Ailes and Rupurt Murdoch.

One conservative-minded network vs. DNC subsidiaries ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC. That’s hardly fair, BrianG. :P

So do talking points repeated by BrianG. Amazing how libs keeping getting their rhetoric from CERTIFIED CLOWNS yet fail to realize how foolish they look doing this. :D

  6. BJ Stone says:

Hilarious, the guy who jumps on Billy for semantics and “inaccurate claims” using the term CERTIFIED CLOWNS. Really? Certified by whom? Sources please? You hack.

  7. David P.Jordan says:

    BJ Stone,

    Merriam-Webster defines a clown as:

    a fool, jester, or COMEDIAN in an entertainment (as a play);

The Free Dictionary Online defines a comedian as:

A person who amuses or tries to be amusing; A CLOWN.

So per Merriam-Webster and the Free Dictionary Online, Clown=Comedian=Clown.

  8. Emtronics says:

So Jordan, who certifies these clowns? Fox? Because their Fox and Friends head clown, Duecy? made a huge mistake mis quoting the President the other morning. The Colbert Report last night called him on it. I believe it was inaccurate information and semantics that Duecy used. Huh…

  9. SHEP says:

“Reality has a well-known liberal bias.” Well said BrianG!

From the Left-wing rag “Forbes Magazine”, FOX news viewers are most “uniformed”. While MSNBC did poorly as well (not surprising), that nasty, socialist, communist, freeloading NPR did pretty damn well …

Since Jordan brought up CERTIFIED CLOWNS, how did we digress onto the subject of George W. Bush?

  10. David P. Jordan says:

Emtronics, his name is Steve DOOCY. :D

    SHEP,

Pollsters get the answers they want. FNC viewers are actually the most informed.

  11. PhillyChief says:

News doesn’t have to be factual thanks to appeals court ruling for Fox back in 2003. Canada had a similar case in 1938. Bottomline is somehow holding broadcasts to the truth is an infringement on free speech.

I find that ridiculous because slander isn’t protected. I suppose it’s a question of demonstrable harm, as in what exactly is the harm of a network claiming the President was born in Kenya, for instance?

  12. David P. Jordan says:

PhillyChief wrote; News doesn’t have to be factual thanks to appeals court ruling for Fox back in 2003.

    Which helps PeoriaPundit tremendously. :P

Btw, show me documentation that Fox News claimed Obama was born in Kenya.

  13. SHEP says:

David, polls always need to be viewed relative to their goals and sponsors. If a Conservative magazine like Forbes dose not contest the findings, then the data must be well defensible.

It is no surprise you would find FOX News so “informative” if that is your primary source of information. How could you distinguish from anything different?

FOX news has never claimed the absolute validity of the “Birthers’” claims to President Obama’s Kenyan origin, only their utmost to propagate the fabricated evidence without offering any significant opportunity for counter arguments. Knowing full well how fragile the Birther claims are, FOX feels compelled to protect it from any broadcast of any substantial intellectual interrogation.

Forbes was just reporting the findings. Besides, there is another side to this:

You wish. I can’t think of any commentator on that network that ever espoused it. Not O’Reilly, Hannity or [no former host] Glenn Beck.

Your Fox Derangement Syndrome (FDS) continues to simmer. :(

  16. BJ Stone says:

    Didn’t EVER espouse it? Unbelievable.

Better check you facts, GOP hack Jordan. Someone actually pays attention and DOES get the facts: http://mediamatters.org/iphone/research/201104270009

52 segments. Most specifically, a February 28th, 2011 Fox broadcast hosted by Mike Huckabee in which he repeatedly claimed the President grew up in Kenya. On Fox News. Where you said it didn’t happen. That would make you, like Fox News…less than honest. Which makes you…a liar.
