Is Aaron Schock really fit for Congress?

Aaron Schock, Republican Congressional candidate for the 18th District, once again demonstrates he is not ready for Congress. Schock was quoted in Sunday’s Springfield State Journal-Register as saying he is wary of the “level of socialism” that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is pushing.

“The last time we had this level of socialism being proposed and inexperience at the helm was Jimmy Carter,” the 27-year-old told SJ-R columnist Bernard Schoenburg.

Inexperience is something Aaron Schock knows all about. Aaron Schock wasn’t even born when Carter — anything but a socialist — left office.

The reporter also took Schock to task for wrongly attributing the quote “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country,” to Sen. Ted Kennedy rather than President John F. Kennedy.

Aaron Schock is in over his head.

Aaron Schock is not the congressman the people of the 18th District want representing them in Washington during these critical times. Do we really want Aaron Schock helping to decide how to deal with the possible nuclear proliferation in Iran? Do we want Aaron Schock confronting the grave and ongoing Russian invasion of Georgia? Can Schock be trusted when it comes to the War on Terror? Is he capable of making decisions concerning our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Too many questions — not enough experience.

Aaron Schock has advocated selling nuclear missiles to Taiwan to use against China. Aaron Schock has repeatedly demonstrated that he does not have the judgment, maturity and leadership skills we need in Washington.

Colleen Callahan brings the maturity, life experience and leadership skills we need to represent the men, women and children of the 18th District. Colleen will provide thoughtful leadership during the critical times that lay ahead for our nation and our district.
